Jim Courier Twitters Away...

fans will be able to learn exactly what Courier is thinking in the middle of the match - something that hasn't been possible really to this point. It's fascinating to hear "Courier's voice" through his chatty "Tweets." Many years ago while Courier was competing in the ATP Finals, he started to read a book during a change over between games of a match. At the time, Courier created quite a stir with this action which appeared to some to indicate that he wasn't focused enough on the match. Now in 2009, Courier may be starting a new trend, at least in exhibition matches and possibly on the Senior Tour (Courier promotes and competes in the Outback Champions Tour for male players over 30). One assumes that on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour and ATP World Tour, it would not be allowed for players to post live Twitter updates during matches (they are apparently not allowed to access their cell phones during matches). At the same time, one would assume that players are concentrating so much that this would be the last thing they'd choose to do. Nonetheless, technology continues to change the tennis world in many ways including by providing tennis pros more ways to communicate with their fans via their websites and now Twitter... all good!
