Azarenka Could Learn From Murray

Andy Murray has made great strides in the past couple years rising from a promising talent to Number Three in the world and now one of the favorites to win Wimbledon this year. There are four areas that Murray has changed or improved which have contributed to his success. Fast-rising Victoria Azarenka could follow Murray’s lead. Andy has worked to get
himself into great shape and that’s made a big difference when he’s playing a long match or in hot conditions. Feeling fit allows a player to focus totally on the match at hand. Andy has also strengthened his serve and now wins more free points off his first serve. Mentally, Murray has learned to control his temper when he is playing poorly or down in a match. At the same time, the improved fitness and mental focus have contributed to helping Murray fight even better and win some long, grueling matches that he might have lost in the past. Azarenka, who has already beaten Serena Williams and captured the “fifth Slam” at the Sony Ericsson Open, is definitely a legitimate contender for Grand Slam titles. If Victoria wants to establish herself at the very top of the women’s game as Murray has on the men’s side, then improving her fitness, strengthening her serve, controlling her temper better and fighting for every point could lift her even higher in the rankings.
