Tennis an Croquet Club have been renumbered including the old Court 2 becoming Court 3! Wimbledon has also continued to embrace new technology. For example, this year there is an increased focus on
social networking as Wimbledon works to bring together Wimbledon fans from all over the world through its Facebook page and Twitter account. On the mobile front, there is an iPhone app, which is available from the AppStore, featuring the latest news, scores, draws and video highlights from The Championships. Wimbledon also has a mobile site that tennis fans can visit: m.wimbledon.org. In 2009, there has also been an increase in the number of grounds passes to a total of 40,000. For tennis fans lucky enough to attend The Championships, the Wimbledon Museum has a special exhibition celebrating the Centenary of Fred Perry's birth which covers his life and legacy including items commemorating Perry’s three successive Wimbledon wins in the 1930s, as well as photos of his life with the stars in Hollywood. Finally, the official book to commemorate the launch of the Centre Court roof, “Centre Court - The Jewel in Wimbledon’s Crown” was recently released. The illustrated book, which was edited by John Barrett and Ian Hewitt, features a fascinating and unparalleled look at the on-court and off-court action and drama over 87 years. Sounds worth reading…
