Wimbledon Fashion Revue 2009

The all-white attire at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club for The Championships, Wimbledon does present some challenges for the tennis clothing manufacturers. Nonetheless, there are always fashionable outfits on display during Wimbledon and 2009 is no exception. Nike has updated Roger Federer’s white Wimbledon outfit this year to include gold colored trim on his collared white shirt, as well as a sort of
military style white jacket, white tuxedo style vest and plain white trousers that he wears onto the court. The great British hope, Andy Murray, is sporting a special classic retro Fred Perry outfit in honor of the legendary Perry’s 100th birthday. Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova have had on simple, but stylish white Nike dresses with the “warm-up jackets” adding a little panache, i.e. a short trench coat for Serena and a short band jacket for Sharapova. adidas has basic red stripes on Novak Djokovic’s crew neck collarless shirts while Dinara Safina and Fernando Verdasco are wearing v-neck collarless shirts. Amelie Mauresmo has on a simple white Reebok top and skirt and Croatian, Marin Cilic, wore a classic plain white collared Fila shirt and shorts. Meanwhile, Lacoste adopted a simple white style for Andy Roddick et al. Finally, five-time Wimbledon Champion, Venus Williams, is wearing a basic fitted white dress featuring her own EleVen brand logo and multiple vertical white straps in the back. The most memorable tennis fashion statement at Wimbledon this year is Andy Murray’s classic Fred Perry outfit. Now will Murray truly make history on the final Sunday of The Championships?!
