Andy Roddick: 501 Match Wins and Counting...

Andy Roddick reached another milestone earlier this week when he won his 500th match… then his 501st! Andy became the thirty-sixth player to win 500 matches and is one of only four active players to hold that honor (the others are Roger Federer, Roger Federer, Carlos Moya and Lleyton Hewitt). As of Friday night, Roddick is now 501-157 in his career to date.
It’s an impressive achievement for Andy Roddick who added even more fans to his stable when he lost a heartbreaker in the 2009 Wimbledon Final to Roger Federer. Fortunately, Roddick seems to have bounced back from that loss and is keen to make a run at the 2009 U.S. Open where many now believe that he has a real chance to take the title.
Roddick has already achieved so much in his career. Since 2002, Andy has been ranked in the year-end top 10. Roddick, who won the 2003 U.S. Open title, also captured the Davis Cup with American teammates, James Blake and the Bryan brothers, a couple years ago. Roddick has also won twenty-seven singles titles (including five on clay courts!) and four doubles titles.
Roddick seems to be thriving under the tutelage of Larry Stefanki and very happy with his life outside the lines of the tennis court since his recent marriage to Brooklyn Decker. Nonetheless, Roddick wants that second Grand Slam title… badly… With Federer learning to play with twins in tow, Rafael Nadal on the mend from knee problems and many others seeking their first Grand Slam title, Roddick has to like his chances at the upcoming 2009 U.S. Open. Stay tuned…
