2009 U.S. Open Women's Singles Final - Analysis

On Sunday night, unranked and unseeded wild card, Kim Clijsters, the 2005 U.S. Open Champion and former Number One ranked player, will take on ninth-seeded and eighth-ranked (career high), nineteen year old Danish tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki, in the 2009 U.S. Open Women’s Final. This is only Clijsters’ third tournament since she returned to the Tour after more than two years on the sidelines during which time she
got married and had her daughter, Jada, a year and half ago. Clijsters beat both Serena and Venus Williams in the U.S. Open, the second time in her career she’s beaten both sisters in the same tournament, en route to the Final. Wozniacki has been one of the hottest players on the Tour this year winning over 60 matches, more than any other player, and three titles in 2009 including at New Haven the week prior to the U.S. Open. Clijsters and Wozniacki will be meeting for the first time in the U.S. Open Women’s Final.
