"Hit for Haiti" - Take Two!

On Friday, March 12th, some of the current and former legends of tennis will play in the second version of "Hit for Haiti" in Indian Wells, California, as part of the BNP Paribas Open to raise funds for earthquake relief in Haiti. The doubles matches will feature
Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi in the men’s match and Steffi Graf and Lindsay Davenport taking on Martina Navratilova and Justine Henin.
It’s wonderful to see the past and present of both men’s and women’s tennis come together to raise funds for such an important cause. It’s also terrific to see Steffi Graf returning a bit more to the tennis court, probably somewhat related to husband, Andre Agassi’s, involvement. The exhibition, which should fill the Indian Wells Tennis Garden stadium given the star-studded lineup of tennis players, hopes to raise $1 million through ticket sales and donations (as well as a personal contribution pledged by Oracle Founder and new BNP Paribas Open tournament owner, Larry Ellison). The net proceeds from ticket sales to this session will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti. Fans will also be able to donate to the relief effort through text messages and on-site contributions throughout the evening and event. The “Hit for Haiti” in Indian Wells probably, which will probably feature the most Grand Slam titles on one tennis court in history (i.e. 94!).
The event will be televised nationally in the United States on the Tennis Channel, as well as overseas. There will also be live streaming on bnpparibasopen.org, TennisTV.com, atpworldtour.com, sonyericssonwtatour.com, usta.com and on espn360.com. The broadcasters, satellite uplink providers and production teams are supporting the event by absorbing all of the production costs.
