Tennis Country's 2010 First Quarter Highlights - Women

Tennis Country’s snapshot of the memorable moments on the women’s pro tennis tour during the First Quarter…
• Greatest Accomplishment:
o Serena Williams winning the singles and doubles titles at the 2010 Australian Open. It was her fifth Australian Open title and twelfth Grand Slam singles title – the same as Billie Jean King
• Biggest Disappointment:
o Maria Sharapova falling in the first round of the 2010 Australian Open and clearly continuing to struggle with all aspects of her game, technically, mentally and physically.
• Major Surprise:
o Justine Henin reaching the final in her first tournament back on Tour and then following that up by racing to the 2010 Australian Open final where she lost to Serena.
• Fresh New Face:
o Laura Robson announced herself (again) with her strong play at the Hopman Cup exhibition before the 2010 Australian Open
