2010 Wimbledon Championships: What's At Stake for the Top 8 Women's Seeds?

The results of the third Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships matter in different ways for each of the top eight women. So what’s at stake for each of the players?
Serena Williams – She’s the defending champion, but her loss at the French Open (after having had match point…) had to be very frustrating… She’ll need to be careful in the early rounds, but then could be very dangerous at the end of the second week if she makes it that far again…
Venus Williams – She has nearly owned the Big W the past decade, but turning 30 (today) does signal that there may not be many other opportunities to add to her trophy cabinet… Nonetheless, she transforms into a different player at this time of year so watch out!
Caroline Wozniacki – Her ranking has soared in the past year, but she’s never been past the round of 16 at Wimbledon and was upset in the first round of the Wimbledon warm-up event… not a lot of pressure in terms of ranking points from last year so perhaps she’ll swing freely and discover her grass court game…
Jelena Jankovic – Her best results have been to reach the fourth round and no one will expect her to really challenge for her first Slam title on the grass so she could slip underneath the radar…
Francesca Schiavone – She did reach the quarters last year so she has a few ranking points to defend in addition to her newly-crowned status as a Grand Slam champion… Regardless, most will not expect much given her recent huge win which should reduce any pressure she might be feeling…
Samantha Stosur – Despite her strong serve, Australian heritage and doubles titles, she’s never progressed beyond the third round at Wimbledon… Can she turn her French Open final disappointment into s positive result on the grass?
Agnieszka Radwanska – Despite lacking a true power game, she’s reached the quarters the past two years so she knows hot to win on grass, but can she do it again now that she’s a member of the elite eight?!
Kim Clijsters – A year ago, she was playing an exhibition to test the new Centre Court roof and now she returns as the reigning U.S. Open Champion… The real test will be how her foot/fitness hold up as she skids and slides around the grass courts…
