Serena Williams - Number One in Singles and Doubles

After winning the 2010 French Open Women’s Doubles title with sister, Venus, Serena Williams is now the sixth woman to simultaneously hold the Number One ranking in singles and doubles. It is also the first time that Serena and Venus have been ranked Number One
in doubles. Kim Clijsters was the last woman to be ranked Number One in singles and doubles at the same time. The honor is also shared with a group that includes Martina Navratilova, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport.
The French title was the fourth consecutive Doubles Grand Slam title for the Williams sisters, a “Williams Slam” as they called it! Two other legendary women’s doubles teams have won four consecutive Grand Slams, i.e. Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver in 1983-84 and Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva in1992-93. As Serena and Venus edge closer to 30 years old, they appear to be slightly more focused on collecting Grand Slam titles and etching their names into more tennis history scrolls.
