Wimbledon 2010 - Country Tally

The Championships, Wimbledon are known for their tradition, as well as the multi-national cast of players. Spain had the most men competing in this year’s tournament, i.e. 15, one more than “second place” France. Russia continued its dominance of women’s tennis with
15 ladies in the main draw, six more than both the Czech Republic and United States. There are some noticeable decreases in the numbers of main draw singles players for both Argentina which had 12 men in 2009, but only 5 this year. On the women’s side, France had 11 women in the main draw last year, but only 5 this year. Another measure of a country’s tennis success is how many players reach the later rounds of Grand Slams and win titles. There are fourteen different countries represented in the men’s and women’s quarterfinals and the Czech Republic and the United States are the only countries with two players. Listed below is a chart of the main draw singles players by country.
