2010 Wimbledon Ladies' Singles Final - Analysis

There’s a first time for every tennis player… For Russian twenty-first seed, Vera Zvonareva, Saturday will be her first Grand Slam singles final when she plays Serena Williams in the Wimbledon Ladies Final. In the past, the twenty-five year old, Vera, has not progressed
beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon, but she has reached the quarters of the French Open and semis of the Australian Open. During her ten-year career, Zvonareva has won ten singles titles and also been ranked as high as fifth in the world. Tennis pundits have always believed that Zvonareva had the game, but the question was whether she had the emotional and mental strength to deal with the tough moments in a match. At Wimbledon this year, Vera has put it all together to reach the final. Serena Williams will be playing for her fourth Wimbledon singles title, second in a row and thirteenth Grand Slam singles title. Serena leads their head-to-head matches 5-1, but Vera already has a win over Serena at Wimbledon this year (in the women’s doubles!) and it’s clearly a “new day” for Zvonareva… tune in Saturday!
