2010 U.S. Open Tennis: What's At Stake for the Top 8 Men's Seeds?

The results of the fourth Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year at the 2010 U.S. Open matter in different ways for each of the top eight men. So what’s at stake for each of the players?
Rafael Nadal – Still needs a U.S. Open crown to complete his career Slam. This year he comes in healthy and rested so one would definitely expect him to seriously contend for the title.
Roger Federer – Doesn’t “need”, but certainly wants, another U.S. Open title or at least a strong showing in a Grand Slam to quiet the naysayers… he played well to win Cincinnati, but he'll want to show he can come through again in a Slam.
Novak Djokovic – Not anyone’s favorite at the moment, but he has the game to beat everyone so the question will be whether he has the stamina, guts and heart to win another Slam, especially under the "steamy hot" bright lights in the big city!
Andy Murray – He has shown he can reach a Slam final. He has shown he can beat the best, and even did it a couple weeks ago, but another disappointing Slam finish would not only depress him, but also raise the specter of whether he will win a Slam title.
Robin Soderling – Has reached the French Open final for two straight years and maintained his place in the top ten, but does he have the game and belief to win a Slam, that is the question?
Nikolay Davydenko – No one ever expects much from the quiet, but talented Russian and especially this year coming off his wrist injury so maybe this is the time he really surprises everyone!
Tomas Berdych – He showed he has the talent with his final round finish at Wimbledon, but was he a one-Slam wonder or can he prove again on a different surface at another Slam that he belongs in the final round?
Fernando Verdasco – He burst into the top ten last year by reaching the Australian Open semis, but he has not made it past the fourth round at the Slams in 2010 so this is his last chance of the year.
