Roger Federer Channels William Tell in Gillette Promo

So did Roger Federer really hit the can off the guy's head with the tennis ball her serves similar to how way back when William Tell split an apple balanced on his son's head with an arrow from his cross-bow. Federer isn't saying, and so you can watch the
video clip along with millions of others and decide for yourself. Regardless, it's become quite the clever viral marketing success story receiving over 4 million You Tube plays in less than a week.

Tennis hasn't sparked much in the way of viral marketing, especially via You Tube, so this Gillette gimmick is a quite a coup. The timing is also perfect in terms of focusing attention on tennis and Roger Federer with the U.S. Open starting next week. These sorts of off-court promotions go a long way in creating personalities out of the top tennis stars which definitely helps to build their fan base. Now let's hope that the tennis itself and players who are actually healthy enough to compete in New York at the U.S. Open this year generate the really important headlines and internet buzz!
