2010 U.S. Open Tennis Fashion Revue

As the last Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year edges closer to the final curtain, the tennis pros at the 2010 U.S. Open in New York have brought out their stylish duds to show off on the tennis runway. There is no question that Venus Williams seems to have
created the most fashion buzz (again) with her sparkly dresses, i.e. black for evening, red and pink for daytime so far. The other major trend has been that most of the top players, i.e. Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Kim Clijsters, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, and brands, i.e. Nike, Fila, Lacoste, etc. have different outfits for their day and night matches with black and dark colors dominating the evening sessions.
From a color standpoint, there have not been any consistent trends across the various manufacturers with shades of blue, red and even yellow and fluorescent green appearing in various designs. The “new kid on the block” this year and especially at the 2010 U.S. Open appears to be K-Swiss which has evolved from a tennis shoe brand into a clothing brand as well. K-Swiss has several high-profile players wearing its clothes, i.e. Mardy Fish, Sam Querrey, Gael Monfils and Vera Zvonareva and the Bryan Brothers, and the men’s designs especially, are quite colorful and appealing. All in all the 2010 U.S. Open tennis fashion show was not trend-setting, but there were still a few outfits worth buying!
