New Tech Enhancements at the 2010 U.S. Open Tennis Tournament

The U.S. Open has a history of innovation and working hard to provide tennis fans with a total entertainment experience both on-site at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, as well as for those fans following the tournament on TV, online or via a mobile
device. 2010 brings several new features that should be fun for tennis fans of all ages!
o Promenade Experience: Fans will be able to listen to a dedicated in-stadium announcer, as well enjoy the “Prom Patrol” which also give away prizes! Tennis stars and celebrities will also venture up to the promenade section to interact with tennis fans

o Panasonic, a U.S. Open sponsor, is bringing 3D broadcasts to tennis fans onsite, on DirectTV and in selected retail outlets
o Mics in the Players’ Boxes where the players’ guests watch the matches
o Fly Cameras will be showing footage from high above Arthur Ashe Stadium, as well as overhead views across the ground
o Olympus, a U.S. Open sponsor, will offer tennis fans onsite at the U.S. Open the chance to make their own commercials at their booth based on the US Open "It Must Be Love" campaign.o Online/Mobile
o All matches shown on TV by the U.S. broadcasters will be streamed live and incorporate live match stats, comment features and picture-in-picture capabilities
o IBM, a U.S. Open sponsor and technology partner, created an enhanced version of the iPhone App which features “augmented reality” which was also offered at Wimbledon this year. The App uses GPS technology and enables fans to take virtual tours of the grounds and check live scores from various courts, as well as providing practical info regarding food stands, first aid, etc. Fans can also access U.S. Open Radio.
o US Open PointStream – a new beta offering which visualizes match data and stats in real-time to give tennis fans insight into a player’s performance.
