Tennis Country's 2010 Third Quarter Highlights - Women

Fireworks

Tennis Country’s snapshot of the memorable moments on the women’s pro tennis tour during the Third Quarter...

•    Greatest Accomplishment:

o    We’re going for a tie… Women’s pro tennis turned “40” in September and Kim Clijsters repeated as U.S. Open Champion!

•    Biggest Disappointment:
o    Justine Henin (elbow) and Serena Williams (foot) missed the U.S. Open because of injuries.  The top ten revolves around and around…

•    Major Surprise:
o    Maria Sharapova’s continued (serving) struggles and uncharacteristically “poor form” in her loss to Caroline Wozniacki at the U.S. Open after showing some signs of her brilliant past form during the summer U.S. Open Series.

•    Fresh New Face:
o    Vera Zvonareva is a returning reinvented “new face”, who reached the Wimbledon and U.S. Open finals, and catapulted herself BACK into the top ten.  Can she take it a step further in 2011 and beyond?
