Tracking Tennis Stats

Statistical analysis of sports is nothing new, especially in team sports such as baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, etc. With the advent of fantasy sports games and the growth in their popularity, sports stats have become much more widely available to
the average sports fan. However, professional tennis lags rather far behind. Data that is provided for tennis matches and players on TV telecasts and tournament/Tour websites is quite limited. Fantasy tennis games are slowly gaining some traction in professional tennis and perhaps that might help the development of more enlightening statistical analysis of tennis matches and players.
Traditionally, stats for tennis matches have focused on basic data such aces, double faults, first serve percentage, break points converted/saved, unforced errors and winners. The latter two categories are also subject to the judgment of the person performing the data entry. So what tennis match/player data could and should be tracked? Is there tennis match/player data which could be valuable in predicting both match winners and rankings? At the same time, most recent match and player data is not readily available to the public although that appears to be changing, especially as betting on tennis gains in popularity. With the advent of technology, it appears certain that more sophisticated analysis of tennis matches will become commonplace very soon.
