2010 ATP World Tour Awards

The men’s ATP World Tour recently announced the winners of its annual awards and they are…
Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award (voted by the players)
Rafael Nadal – he beat out Roger Federer who had won the award for six years in a row!
Most Improved Player of the Year (voted by the players)
Andrey Golubev – he climbed all the way to 33rd from 133rd in the world in 2009! Golubev, who is twenty-three and from Kazakhstan, also won his first Tour title in Hamburg.
Tobias Kamke – he compiled a 35-16 record on the Challengers including two titles and rose to 67th from 354th in the rankings. At the age of twenty-four, the German also reached the third round at Wimbledon and won seven Tour level matches. He is the third German to win the award since 2004.
Comeback Player of the Year (voted by the players)
Robin Haase – he climbed back after knee surgeries in 2008 and 2009 to 59th in the rankings from 392nd winning nine Tour level matches. On the Challenger circuit, he was 32-8 while collecting five titles.
Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year
Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Ul-Haq Qureshi – they made headlines at the 2010 U.S. Open as The “Indo-Pak Express” and are trying to use friendship and success to build bridges between their two countries and promote peace around the world. Their motto is “Stop War, Start Tennis” and Qureshi was recently named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.

Roger Federer – for the eighth straight year, he was voted the Fan Favorite and received 47% of the votes, followed by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan – the twins won the award for the sixth straight year collecting 44% of the votes followed by Nestor-Zimonjic and Bopanna-Qureshi.
