Tennis Country 2010 Year-End Number One Player: Men - Rafael Nadal

Grand Slam Titles: Three – French Open, Wimbledon and U.S. Open
Tournament Titles: 7
Match wins: 71
Intangible: Rafael Nadal started out 2010 having not won a title since the spring of 2009 and he retired from his quarterfinal match at the Australian Open against Andy Murray because of a knee injury. Nonetheless, Nadal turned around his season during the clay court swing in the spring and had his best year yet not only winning three consecutive Grand Slam titles, but also achieving a “career Slam” when he won his first U.S. Open title. There’s clearly no question that Nadal can win on all surfaces and has a chance to win many more major titles. Rafa’s biggest challenge will be to stay healthy through smart tournament scheduling and training.
