Tennis Country 2010 Year-End Number One Player: Women - Caroline Wozniacki

Grand Slam Titles: 0
Tournament Titles: 6
Match Wins: 62
Intangible: Serena Williams may have won two Grand Slam titles in the first six months of 2010 at the Australian Open and Wimbledon and (still) be the best player in women’s tennis, but she didn’t play the second half of 2010. As a result, Caroline Wozniacki, from Denmark, who won a Tour-leading six titles in 2010 became the Number One ranked player. Wozniacki has a solid baseline game and her mental toughness carried her through many matches and the pressures associated with reaching Number One. Caroline seems to enjoy the view from the top and appears determined to continue to improve game, which are good signs for the newly-crowned Number One. In 2011, Wozniacki will need to not only win a Grand Slam title, but also consistently beat the members of the top ten in order to remain, and justify, her place at the very top of the rankings. Stay tuned…
