Tennis Country's 2010 Fourth Quarter Highlights - Women

Fireworks

Tennis Country’s snapshot of the memorable moments on the women’s pro tennis tour during the Fourth Quarter…

•    Greatest Accomplishment:

o    Kim Clijsters coming back to win the year-end championships, defeating new World Number One, Caroline Wozniacki, in the final after being sidelined with a foot injury after winning her second consecutive U.S. Open title.

•    Biggest Disappointment:
o    Neither Serena Williams nor Venus Williams competed at all in the fourth quarter because of injuries, i.e. foot surgery for Serena and knee injury for Venus.

•    Major Surprise:
o    Caroline Wozniacki ended the year as the Number One ranked player… not what many would have predicted in January, 2010.

•    Fresh New Face:
o    Flavia Pennetta and Gisela Dulko, two strong singles players and friends partnering in doubles, became the Number One doubles team and won the year-end championships
