Andy Roddick Dives to Victory
impressive (than the way he won) is that Roddick is the only player besides Roger Federer to have won a title in the past eleven straight years. That stat is yet another testament to Roddick's consistency and fighting spirit.
This match was an excellent chance for the fast-rising Raonic to learn from Roddick about "how to win". Clearly, Raonic has talent, but you don’t rise to the top ten and stay there without some guts and inner mental strength. Roddick, who was not feeling at his best during the match due a cold, showed how he could handle the pressure of playing a talented "newcomer", as well as standing strong in the third set after having lost multiple match/championship points at the end of the second set. The pro tennis Tour can be a grind, as much a glorious experience and there will be many days when a top player is not feeling/playing his/her best or possessing the confidence that comes with a string of recent wins. Andy Roddick has shown again and again over the years that he knows "how to win" and hopefully Milos Raonic took some of that home with him, as well as, his runners-up trophy and prize money.
