Best Men's Doubles Draw... EVER?!

The 2011 BNP Paribas Open may have the best men’s doubles draw ever… The draw features Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez, former BNP Paribas Open champions, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka, Olympic Gold Medalists, Novak Djokovic and Viktor Troicki,
The presence of all these top men in the doubles draw raises the debate again regarding whether the best singles players could clean up with doubles titles if they only played doubles more often. For example, Federer and Wawrinka upset the number two seeds in the first round, Nadal and Lopez upset the fourth seeds in the first round. As of tonight, Nadal/Lopez, Federer/Wawrinka, Djokovic/Troicki and Murray/Murray have all reached at least the quarters. The doubles matches are only two out of three sets with a ten point match tie-breaker used in place of an actual third set so the men know that the matches won’t last that long. However, they can still get stuck playing late at night as Nadal did last night. Nonetheless, it’s a bonus for the tennis fans who have the chance to see even more of their favorite men in a somewhat more relaxed match situation.
