As the 2011 French Open tennis tournament approaches, we gaze into our clay-dusted fluorescent yellow tennis ball and offer our prognostications for the tournament ahead... before they’ve even released the main draws for Roland Garros!
• One wildcard and one qualifier will reach the round of 16
• There will be a first-time women's champion
• Six different countries will be represented in the women's quarters
• Two of the top four men's seeds will reach the semis
• Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will reach the second week, but only one will reach the final
• Kim Clijsters, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki will reach at least the quarters and one will reach the final
• Bright colors will dominate the fashion revue
• There will be more Europeans than South Americans in the men’s quarters
• HEAD will be the most popular racket used by players in the semis
• The men's final will last at least four sets and more than 3 1/2 hours
