The Championships, Wimbledon 2011: Men's Quarters

The men’s quarterfinals are set at Wimbledon and four of the top eight seeds have reached the last eight, i.e. the top four seeds. There are some fascinating match-ups taking place today. Top seed, Rafael Nadal will face first-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist, Mardy Fish.
The second match-up in the top half features local favorite, Andy Murray, against Spanish lefty, Feliciano Lopez. Murray’s mom, Judy, has dubbed the smooth serving lefty “Delicano” because of his good looks, much to the chagrin of Andy! In the bottom half, six-time champion, Roger Federer, who has kept his Grand Slam quarterfinal streak alive, faces the talented Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has reached his second straight Wimbledon quarterfinal. Finally, Novak Djokovic plays first-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, eighteen-year-old, Australian, Bernard Tomic, who played tough against Nadal at the 2011 Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray have continued their Grand Slam consistency for 2011 in which they have reached all three semis with the exception of Nadal who was injured against David Ferrer in Melbourne. Seven countries are represented in the men’s quarters with Spain having two men in the last eight. Long gone are the days when the Spanish men were strictly clay courters. Upsets are a possibility, but we’re expecting at least three of the top four men to make their seeds with Federer facing the greatest challenge from Tsonga.
