2011 U.S. Open Wildcards

The coveted main draw wildcards aka “free passes” into the men’s and women’s singles draws at the 2011 U.S. Open were distributed to some very lucky tennis players. The following players received a wildcard:
WOMEN:
• Jill Craybas – Thirty-seven year old American and playing in her 44th straight Grand Slam main draw having ended the past ten years ranked in the top 100
• Jamie Hampton – Twenty-one year old, who won four USTA Pro Circuit titles last year and qualified for the 2011 Australian Open, Indian Wells and Miami.
• Alison Riske – Twenty-one year old, who received a wildcard to Wimbledon in 2010 and competed in the main draw at the 2011 Australian Open and Wimbledon, has won three Futures titles.
• Sloane Stephens – Seventeen year old, currently ranked 110th, who qualified for the 2011 French Open, Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston and Estoril and beat top twenty player, Julia Goerges in San Diego this summer.
• Lauren Davis – Seventeen year old USTA Girl’s 18 National Champion, who won the USTA Wildcard Playoff to earn a slot in the main draw for the 2011 Australian Open. She won two USTA Pro titles in 2010, as well as the Orange Bowl junior tournament.
• Casey Dellacqua – Australian, twenty-six years old, who had a career-high ranking of 39th, received the reciprocal wildcard that the USTA trades with Tennis Australia for a spot in the Australian Open main draw. She won the mixed doubles title at the 2011 French Open.
• Aravane Rezai – Frenchwoman, twenty-four years old, who has a career-high ranking of 15th, received the reciprocal wildcard that the USTA trades with French Tennis Federation for a spot in the Roland Garros main draw. She has reached the round of 16 at the U.S. Open and French Open.
• Madison Keys – Sixteen year old American who won the USTA Wildcard Playoff
MEN:
• Marinko Matosevic - Received the reciprocal wildcard that the USTA trades with Tennis Australia for a spot in the Australian Open main draw.
• Robby Ginepri – 2005 semifinalist with a career-high ranking of 15 and 3 Tour titles, now 28 years old and on the comeback from arm surgery.
• Ryan Harrison – Nineteen year old rising American, the youngest in the top ten, who reached the semis in two U.S. Open Series events this summer. He reached the second round last year after coming through qualifying.
• Steve Johnson – Twenty-one year old NCAA Champion from USC.
• Jack Sock – 18s Nationals Champion for the second year in a row, Sock, eighteen years old, won the U.S. Open Junior Boys’ title last year and recently turned professional.
• Donald Young – Twenty-two year old Young, a two-time Junior Grand Slam champion, is ranked again in the top 100 after reaching the semis in Washington this summer.
• Julien Benneteau – Frenchman, twenty-nine years old, with a career-high ranking of 32nd in 2010 and currently ranked 81st, received the reciprocal wildcard that the USTA trades with French Tennis Federation for a spot in the Roland Garros main draw.
• Bobby Reynolds – Twenty-nine year old American who won the USTA Wildcard playoff
