Blockbuster Big Four in Australian Open Semis: Nadal Versus Federer, Djokovic Versus Murray

How lucky can we be in men’s pro tennis to have the top four men who are currently dominating men’s tennis? Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray own 30 Grand Slam titles between them covering all four Slams. There is a lot at
stake for all the players in the 2012 Australian Open semis, but especially for Roger Federer, who at the age of thirty, has to take advantage of every chance to get back to a Slam final since his last one was in 2010. Murray, who is playing in his fifth straight Slam semi, still has yet to claim his first Slam title… maybe this year?
The sold-out semis promise to be compelling matches on all fronts. This is the fourth Grand Slam semi with the top four men and there were three different winners at those events, i.e. US Open in 2008, 2011 and Roland Garros in 2011. Tennis fans get to experience another match between Federer and Nadal and Rafa leads not only their overall rivalry, but also their Grand Slam encounters. Djokovic and Murray now repeat their final round match from a year ago, which Djokovic won relatively easily. These players have all played against each other many times and in the end it will come down to who plays “best” on the day, but most of that will result from what goes on “between the ears”…
