Star-Studded Australian Open Mixed Doubles

Mixed doubles is a part of every Grand Slam, but the winning teams tend to be “doubles specialists” or second tier singles players collecting some extra cash in the mixed doubles. The future American Olympic pairing and marquee team of Serena Williams and Andy Roddick may have had to pull out of the 2012 Australian Open Mixed Doubles
because of Roddick’s hamstring injury, but there are still other attention-grabbing mixed doubles teams in the 2012 Australian Open. In fact, the upcoming 2012 Olympics in London have had an effect on both the doubles teams, as well as the mixed doubles pairings at the 2012 Australian Open.
The Japanese duo of Kimiko Date-Krumm and Kei Nishikori a winter/summer team featuring the forty-one year old, Date-Krumm with the highest-ranked Japanese man ever, twenty-one year old, Nishikori. Sania Mirza and doubles specialist, Mahesh Bhupathi, are also trying to get in some match practice ahead of the London Olympics. In fact, India has two other top-ranked male doubles specialists, i.e. Leander Paes and Rohan Bhopanna, so it’s not certain yet, with whom Mirza will play in the Olympics.
