Roger Federer Holds Record for Most Weeks Ranked Number One

After winning the 2012 Wimbledon title, Roger Federer assumed the Number One ranking again and then broke another record previously held by Pete Sampras by becoming the male player to be ranked Number One for the most non-consecutive weeks. As of August 6, 2012,
Federer has been ranked Number One for 290 weeks (and counting…). Sampras held the Number One ranking for 286 weeks. Along with his incredible Grand Slam semifinal and quarterfinal streaks, this is yet another proof of not only Federer’s talent, but also his fitness, drive and determination.
